Why we love living in Sydney

Why we love Sydney

February 26th, 2018

Due to popular demand following last month’s Melbourne story (and some noisy Sydneysiders) we have decided to share with you the things we love about Sydney.

Since Sydney is where Poly Australia is currently developing a number of projects, we wanted to share with you some of the things we love about living in this iconic city.

Arts and Culture thrives here

Melbourne might think that it’s Australia’s Capital of Arts and Culture, but just take a stroll down Circular Quay and you have the country’s most iconic building dedicated to the arts – Sydney Opera House! And, just across the water lives the Museum of Contemporary Art, not to mention The Rocks showcase some of Australia’s finest artistic talent, and those awesome weekend markets.

Markets galore!

Markets in Sydney, we love them, from the weekly stalls at The Rocks, to Chatswood and beyond, we have a love affair with all things markets. Paddy’s and Flemington are our staples, and you will find Sydneysiders here en’mass on any given weekend. From flower markets, to food markets, to grower’s markets and all things in between, there’s a dedicated market day.

We like to think we are the unofficial capital of the country

And even though we’re not, we’re pretty chuffed that if you ask foreigners what the capital of Australia is, many will answer with Sydney!
That’s thanks to our world famous icons – the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge!

Speaking of that Harbour Bridge…

Did you know you could climb it? Yep, and let’s not stop there – for the thrill seekers amongst us, you can also do a Sky Walk 309 metres in the air at Sydney Tower Eye. But don’t look down, it’s quite a drop!

Our beaches are better than yours!

White sand, blue crashing waves. It doesn’t matter whether you’re down south at beautiful Cronulla Beach, up on the gorgeous Northern Beaches or our famous Bondi Beach. Sydney has some of the world’s best beaches, and they certainly don’t disappoint the surf lovers among us with some of the best swirls on offer worldwide.

We have a real theme park

Yes, Luna Park is iconic, but where are the thrills? Sydneysiders can enjoy their very own dedicated water park in the heart of Western Sydney – Wet n Wild. And, it’s a great place for the kiddies during the summer holidays!

Food Trucks Everywhere

We don’t know about you Melbourne, but we have a dedicated food truck scene here in Sydney and it’s taking off! You can find some of the country’s best food moving around Sydney on any given weekend. From those awesome bearded bakers, the Knafeh brothers, do the Dirty Bird food truck – we Sydneysiders love our street food!

We are getting so big, we need a second airport

And it is testament to our growing population that we can have such a multicultural city full of some of the best food in the world in one spot! So many people want to live in our awesome city that we’re going to build a second airport – ensuring Sydney continues to be connected globally.
